SimRail SA and Playway come to the end of the development of SimRail – The Railway Simulator, which is coming to its final stretch. The playtests are also open on the Steam page game for a few hours at the time of this writing.
The developers have also undertaken a light communication via their Youtube channel, in order to show some gameplay elements of the final version. We already had a demo which dates from December 2021, and things seem to be moving in the right direction. It will be noted in passing that the prologue received good reviews, which I personally share, at least for the solo experience. Because SimRail is expected on a field where it will be alone: multiplayer. Dovetail's competitor Train Sim World hasn't (yet) come across it. And the simulation published by PlayWay could well delight some players who already imagine themselves with a friend checking passengers' tickets, while another drives or manages the switches. In short, all dreams are allowed.
After letting out a trickle of drool on the 2 gameplay teasers at the controls of the Polish locomotive EU07, showing full interaction and a rich environment, players were able to discover, 3 days ago, a video called “Multiplayer Trailer”. And there, our dreams collapsed in less than 44 seconds. Hoping to have more information on this multiplayer mode, we will have to settle for a quick passage on a table (at the 13th second) where we can see the referral system (Fafa, tell me if I'm wrong...) followed by an exterior view of the switch in question. No information comes to affirm that the gameplay in multiplayer will articulate well around a player with control and another with the switches.
In any case, we will all be fixed in 6 weeks since the date of January 13 is clearly indicated on the Steam sheet. The latter also sports a roadmap indicating a release on NextGen consoles (PS5 / Xbox Series) in 2023. So… Wait and see…
