Announced at Aerosoft's annual "NextSim" event, CityDriver is a city driving simulation developed by ViewApp, creators of the TramSim. The title promises realistic driving on the streets of Munich.
It must be said that the German city was already the playground of the second episode of the infamous tram simulation mentioned above. So you might as well exploit to the last drop the time spent recreating all this decor.
Aerosoft recently opened the floodgates of communication with a 13-minute let's play on the publisher's SimNext channel. Better, the developers have published an enticing trailer on their Facebook page revealing a little more the fleet of vehicles (including a major part of the American manufacturer Tesla, but also Mercedes). CityDriver seems, like TramSim, to exploit the Unreal Engine. Graphically speaking, it's correct, but we rely fully on the basic capabilities of Epic's engine. The optimization seems completely in the cabbage, especially on the unflattering recording made by Aerosoft, where framerate drops and road traffic lags are observed.
La Steam record is also chatty. Probably a bit too much for a game whose release date has not yet been announced. We learn that 2 game modes are planned: a "free" sandbox mode, and a "driving school" mode for learning good maneuvers. Some will finally be able to learn to park properly.
Joking aside, the game sheet already talks about the possibility of publishing mods on the Steam Workshop. It's a bit premature, but still good to know: we can count on the community (or not) to catch up on the game.
