The ModContest has been open for votes for a few days now. It's time to take stock of the maps, tools, and other gear just released on the official Giants Software modhub.
The surprising Young Timer category
Separate section, the lots of which are financed by Focus Home Interactive. There is no question of brand new equipment here, since the machines and tools present must not have known the 2000s. In this category, there are of course a few tractors alone but also packs. For the latter, the Ursus stand out for the number of representatives (8 ancestors with or without a cabin). An SHL pack (SAME-Lamborghini-Hürlimann) also stands out. From memory, we started to see them arrive on FS 2011.
A Ford 6810, a Fiat 160-55 with tracks, the New Holland 70 Series and the MB trac 800-900 enjoy a very beautiful model, worthy of a competition. Personally, in this category, it is the Fortschritt E 281 forage harvester pack that stands out from the crowd. Original, it does not seem to have already crossed this range of the manufacturer in a previous version of Farming Simulator.
The Swiss Future Farm ahead of the curve
The challenge which consisted in reproducing / improving / rethinking the Swiss Future Farm will not have been full since only 3 farms have been created for this competition. The 3 modders will therefore be rewarded. In this game, there is a chance that the modder Oxy-Endavid wins the Palme d'Or, having provided a complete farm, created from real blueprints.
16 maps or nothing
On the cards side, the modhub has swelled with 16 achievements, including one dedicated to TractorPulling. It's original, if not frankly conclusive. On a totally personal basis, none of the cards presented thrilled me to the point of making me leave Ravenport. Why ? Because they all look alike. Only 2 modders dared to use the red earth of Estancia Lapacho for the maps " Pineapple bay " and " Durango". The latter is quite worked, with a fairly nice rail system.
Tools for soil and transport
Finally, outside the category, many tools were presented for this contest. Of course there is our dumpster Dangreville B One 32 B (which you can vote for without moderation 😀), but there are 3 others that piqued my interest. The first is the irrigation system, made up of a pump, a hose reel and a barrel. As water is not taken into account in crop management, this system simply puts your plots in a “fertilized” state.
The second is Automarketing. I like the idea of being able to sell your own products directly. It's in tune with the times and it avoids having to browse the map to go to the point of sale.
The third and final mod is the third person view. I find that the game has been missing since these beginnings. Competing simulations have opted for this camera placed on the back of the character, so why not Farming Simulator? Especially since the person of FS 19 is customizable and rather pleasing to the eye.
