Once is not custom, the Farming Simulator League turns sour this WE, the tournament seeing itself purely and simply canceled!
If you follow us in our FSL “leaguer career”, you must have seen a little message from dissatisfaction this Saturday August 10. And for good reason, this WE was to take place the second tournament of the e-sport league dedicated to Farming Simulator. If the challenge that was taking place at Farmcon had left us with a rather bitter taste. Today's online version was a real cold shower.
Recall of facts (in video here): At Farmcon, we complained that we were only able to play for 40 seconds after driving for 14 hours. The reception of the FSL teams was quite uneven, and the general organization was light since we only had the game information 3 days before the tournament.
We take the same and start again ! This WE, for the online version which was to accommodate more than 40 teams (around 150 players mobilized), we only had the game information 4 days in advance. A bit limited when we know that the players of our team are either on vacation or at work in the fields. We needed to organize ourselves… The deadline was "short". Never mind, we managed to put 3 players in front of the screen this Saturday morning: GuilHome, Maxicam, and YDenos. Maxicam drove 300 km to find an internet connection, and YDenos had to land 2 days to participate in the FSL. All 3 were patiently awaiting the green light from Giants Software for the launch of the matches which were to take place at 12 noon.
Tic Tac Tic Tac
9h…. 10h…. 11h…. 12h …………. 13 p.m., still no news from Giants Software for the match schedules, nor against which opponent. Total silence, including on social networks where the league account is however very active in normal times.
To know our time and condition of passage, we had to go to the FSL server… except that the latter, a simple web interface, had a bug. Giants Software tried to contact the teams by email to launch the tournament, but faced with the complexity of the implementation, the organizer preferred to throw in the towel and cancel the tournament, leaving 150 players behind. Simply outrageous for a tournament where money is at stake!
The only response from Giants Software, which is also struggling to set up automated team qualifications (we had to send a screenshot of our victory to validate it .... Remember that we are in 2019 ... Anyway ...): “This weekend's tournament is canceled and another program will take place later… between 5 and 9 weeks. "
The FSL is clearly off to a bad start. Everything seems organized in a hurry, and even if the event is interesting, the lack of means is a real thorn in the side of the league. Giants Software now has the sword of Damocles over its head. There will undoubtedly be no room for error for the next round, which will take place anyway, without us.
