Meta, formerly Facebook, joins the competitive field of conversational artificial intelligence with its latest innovation: llama 2. While giants such as Google and Microsoft are already in the running in this field, Meta is positioning itself with its new improved version of AI.
Version 2 of Llama, which was launched just days after the release of the first version in February, is a significant development in this area. Unlike its competitors, Meta has not opted for dedicated sites like bard.google.com ou chat.openai.com to use its AI. Instead, Meta takes a different approach by making Llama 2 both free and open source. This approach allows any developer to download the model and deploy it to their own servers, providing unparalleled flexibility.
Although Meta has not implemented a specific interface, an external solution has emerged since the launch of Llama 2. Perplexity AI created a chat interface accessible via a web browser. This platform allows users to experience the artificial intelligence of Meta by engaging in conversations, similar to the experiences offered by ChatGPT or Bard. Despite the mostly English interface, Llama 2 can understand and respond in French, expanding its reach.
Ease of use is one of the key features of this new AI. No registration is required, and users can choose from three different versions, offering 7 billion, 13 billion or 70 billion parameters respectively. At the time of the launch of Llama 2, Mark Zuckerberg had pointed out that this second version had benefited from prior training with 40% more data compared to its predecessor.
With Llama 2, Meta embarks on a new era of conversational artificial intelligence. Its open approach and significant improvements could potentially redefine human interactions with machines and open new perspectives for the development of innovative applications in various fields. »
