Online music streaming company Deezer has admitted to experiencing a data leak in 2019 via a third-party service provider. According to Deezer, the exposed data includes first and last names, dates of birth, email addresses, gender, location data (city and country), date of registration and user ID. The hacker who released some of this data said they have information about more than 240 million users from Deezer and claimed that the leak mainly affects users in France, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, Mexico, Colombia, Turkey, United States, Italy and Guatemala. According to Deezer, no passwords or payment details were compromised and the company said it was working with French authorities to confirm the source of the leak and take action.
