Cloud Imperium Games announces the release of the new update for Star Citizen – Alpha 3.18: Lasting Legacies. This update marks a big step forward for the game in its quest to create a real-world persistent universe. This is made possible by the new Persistent Entity Streaming (PES) feature, which tracks physical objects moved or placed by players on the server they were moved to, creating an immersive experience never seen before.
A step forward for the persistent universe
Today's update also introduces the highly anticipated Salvage Profession, an all-new economic, non-combat career for in-universe pilots. The salvage ability allows pilots to salvage valuable materials from target ships and sell them for a profit. The new scavenging profession is supported by the addition of new tech and tools, including a complete overhaul of cargo, which gives a physical representation of cargo in-game. Lasting Legacies also includes the launch of the Drake Interplanetary Vulture, a new recovery ship for beginners.
The new features of the update
In addition to new features to aid gameplay, Lasting Legacies expands existing gameplay content for players. Abandoned Settlements have been expanded with new, more diverse locations for on-foot FPS missions on Daymar. Klescher Prison has been given new assignments for prisoners on the wrong side of the law, including new ways to reduce their sentence. The racing gameplay has been improved, with seven new timed trial racing missions in the Stanton system.
The Drake Vulture Salvager and the new RSI Scorpius Antares Fighter
The new update also includes new ships: the Drake Interplanetary Vulture and the RSI Scorpius Antares Fighter. The Drake Vulture is the entry-level salvage ship for entry-level players, while the RSI Scorpius Antares Fighter is a new gunship.
With the release of the Star Citizen – Alpha 3.18: Lasting Legacies update, players can now enjoy a persistent universe that is more real than ever, with new gameplay features to explore and discover. The game continues to improve and develop to provide a unique immersive experience for players.
